Experience

I am a media professional with over 25 years’ experience in television production, journalism, copywriting, and event management. My work as a producer, director, and writer spans more than 50 long-form broadcast credits and over 250 shorter projects across genres including investigative documentaries, history, current affairs, true crime, and business. I have made films for the BBC (Frontline Scotland), Channel 4 (Dispatches), and Al Jazeera, as well as international series such as Asia’s Monarchies (National Geographic), Evolution of Evil (Discovery/ZDF), Ancient Black Ops (Discovery/Yesterday), Narrow Escapes of WW2 (UKTV Yesterday), and Bodycam (Discovery ID).

Trained at the BBC and Westminster Press/Financial Times, I am an award-winning journalist who has reported for BBC News, CNBC, European Business News, and Al Jazeera. My current work includes content production and events with Reuters, where I also ghostwrite for senior executives and create thought-leadership articles for clients such as OCI-Group, RTB House, and AdLook. Since 2022, I have hosted and written Eurostat’s podcast Stats in a Wrap.

I am the founder of elliottmedia.net, a consultancy specialising in international development and B2B/NGO communication, offering production, training, and project management. I also have extensive experience in events organisation, media training for broadcasters including Iran International, and teaching at Cambridge TV School.

Alongside my professional work, I contribute to community and charity initiatives, including Epic Arts, Christian Aid, and Chance UK, and I am a founder member of the Blackhorse Workshop. I bring strong editorial judgement, creative and technical expertise, and skills in project coordination and leadership, supported by proficiency in editing (FCP X, Avid, Adobe Audition), camera operation (Sony FS7, Canon C300), and digital communications.

Education

My professional work is underpinned by a broad and rigorous education combining academic study with formal training in journalism and media production. I hold a B.A. Hons in Classics (2.1) from Bristol University and an NCTJ Diploma in Journalism from Westminster Press/Financial Times, which gave me the grounding to become a fast, confident writer trained to NCTJ standard. I received extensive BBC training, including the Single Camera Directors Course, editorial research and writing for current affairs, and newsroom experience, which instilled the discipline and rigour expected in investigative journalism.

I began my career as an assistant film editor, gaining an instinctive feel for shaping narrative structure, and have continued to build technical proficiency in editing software such as FCP X, Avid, and Adobe Audition, as well as shooting with cameras including the Sony FS7 and Canon C300. My Commonwealth/ITC Travelling Bursary allowed me to research politics and media in Nigeria, producing BBC radio documentaries and writing for The Guardian and The Independent. I have also undertaken legal and communications training at the College of Law.

This combination of academic grounding, professional training, and technical expertise has shaped me into a versatile media professional with strengths in creative filmmaking, journalism, and complex project management.
