5+ years experience in chemistry and microbiology labs with knowledge of various methods of analysis as well as familiarity with use of acids, alkalis and cyanide.

Laboratory or Science work in/around Cardiff

Lower Management level position in charge of the running of the chemical lab including monitoring of the budget, ordering, disposal, and maintenance of stock, training, and upkeep of training matrix, running reports and being the go between for higher management and lab staff. These tasks have provided me with experience working closely with other departments and even other companies for jobs such as hazardous waste disposal.  

I was also involved in a Carbon Offset Project to try and lower the energy consumption and carbon footprint of the company.

Lab duties included testing and additions of various plating tanks including cadmium, chrome, and TSA using techniques such as manual and auto titrations as well as use of an XRF. Along with the regular tank maintenance my responsibilities also included upkeep of the RO and effluent plant.

 

 

Chemical and bacteriological testing of products and water, general and aseptic lab cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating machines including daily instrument controls. Audit experience of both being audited by lab cred and various other bodies as well as performing glass and perspex audits throughout the factory.

Chemical lab experience with use of contaminated sharps, FT-IR machines, titrations, pH measurements, chemical oxygen demand, ammonium level checks, chemical detergent concentration tests and preparation of samples for external testing.

Micro lab experience of plating samples on high sensitivity TVC, Coliform, Entero and VRBGA plates, air plates, reading and reporting of results, preparation of maximum recovery diluent, testing of hygiene and traditional swabs and use of autoclaves and incubators (including datalogging).
