About Kalon Mills:
I am a 24 year old student with a drive to help make people’s lives easier. I have worked within the Retail Sector since the age of 18 alongside studying my Open University Degree. I have performed management roles both as a Team Leader and in Delivered Sales, by training colleagues and drivers on regulation and compliance. I am seeking something more challenging, something that will test me but will also give me more of a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when it comes to helping people. I believe that working within the Health Sector can and will potentially scratch that itch as I could be helping people with pressing issues, increasing the sense of accomplishment and satisfying the individual by providing the help they truly need.
Experience
I have worked as a Delivered Sales Coordinator and Home Delivery Driver at Iceland for the past 3 years. Some of my main responsibilities are:
- Training new drivers by making them aware of the safe and legal practices to be carried out both at the store and whilst out on the road.
- Performing driver assessments
- Constructively feeding back drivers’ performance based on Telematics scores
- Training drivers how to approach using Customer Service correctly
Before this, between 2017 and 2019; I was a Team Leader for Tesco. Some of my main duties were:
- Supervising between 40 and 50 colleagues and thousands of customers during peak hours, while ensuring the Front End (Checkouts, Self Service, Scan as you Shop, Customer Service Desk) is running efficiently with minimal issues.
- Working with checkout staff rotas and schedules
- Providing legal training to colleagues and maintaining a high housekeeping standard with colleagues’ work records
- Assisting with legal practices on checkouts such as Lottery, Think 25, Cashback
- Performing till checks and handling cash properly and safely to ensure the till weighs the cash correctly with no risks of money being lost or stolen
Education
I am currently studying Law with the Open University. I tend to study around 20 hours a week; more specifically on weekends. I can make this work around a typical full time job quite easily.
