About Karla Mohoric:

I am an enthusiastic MSc Neuroscience student currently studying at King's College London, with my bachelor's degree completed in BSc Psychology at Oxford Brookes University, for which I was rewarded the BPS Prize as well as the Brian Selby Prize for the highest overall student average. I am aspiring to become a clinical psychologist and I am passionate about helping individuals who might be struggling with their mental health. I have excellent communication and time management skills, and I am an empathetic and caring person. From the start of September, I am flexible and able to work any shift and be on call if needed.

Experience

Throughout my studies I have gained theoretical and practical knowledge of various mental health disorders. For example, my undergraduate project explored depression-specific cognitive biases, including emotion context insensitivity (ECI), which is a relatively new concept with a lot of potential for bettering the treatment and therapy of depressed individuals. Furthermore, I am currently a part of the PerPsych project which explores the perceptions of individuals with lived experience of mental health disorders, as well as perceptions of mental health professionals on causes and development of such disorders.

I am a volunteer at Knus, a peer-support helpline for anyone struggling with mental health. For this I have completed a CPD accredited training in which I learnt how to support and guide anyone struggling with mental health, including suicidal tendencies.

Education

I have completed an undergraduate course in Psychology at Oxford Brookes University where I achieved a First Class Honours Degree and won a BPS Prize for the best student average throughout the 3 years. I am currently completing a Masters course in Neuroscience at King’s College London where I am on the path to graduate with a distinction in September.
