About Kartik Deshmukh:
I am a second-year PhD student at the University of Cambridge, and I am actively seeking industrial work experience to complement my strong background in research. I intend to build upon the strong theoretical foundation in engineering provided by my higher education qualifications.
Experience
I have a strong research background in working on projects that are diverse and industrially relevant including enhancing the effectiveness of cleaning-in-place systems, maximising biogas yields using plasma reactors, improving product formulation by ensuring a desired particle size distribution and investigating appropriate brain sensors for in vivo applications. I intend to use these experiences as stepping stones for my transition into a professional career.
Education
Currently, I am a PhD student at the University of Cambridge, and I am currently working on the optimisation of cleaning-in-place (CIP) technologies that are ubiquitous in the food, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. CIP technologies suffer from inefficiencies that must be addressed such as contamination of products with allergens which means that processes are often subjected to oversizing i.e. using more than sufficient water and detergents. Through my PhD, I aim to achieve a better understanding of the cleaning mechanisms and optimise them using computational fluid dynamics. I have an MSc degree in Advanced Chemical Engineering with Biotechnology from Imperial College London and a BEng in Chemical Engineering from Loughborough University.
