Services offered

Since graduating from Camberwell in 2012, I have worked as a freelance book conservator and bookbinder, alongside institutional employment and contract work. I include both large-scale book traders and institutions among my clients, as well as individual collectors. I work out of my studio in Islington, North London.

Part of my work comprises bench based conservation on archival objects and books. Being in private practice has meant the media I work on is as varied as silver, pewter, leather, historic plastics and paper.

As well as practical work, I advise clients on safe handling of mould, pests and toxic components to their books. I offer guidance and training on preventive care such as storage solutions, environment, display and safe handling. I research the origin and historical context of clients’ objects, which I produce in a report.

Approximate rate: £ 45 per hour

Experience

I have worked in institutions and as a freelancer, undertaking complicated bench work and managing large-scale teams. Having undertaken a year-long management training course, am looking to transition into heritage management and am seeking opportunities where I can develop these skills.
