My volunteering at the Edinburgh Chinese Community School gave me an insight into the world of
teaching as well as creating a comfortable environment for different ages. It made me realise the different
levels of respect in a workplace and how necessary they are in creating a pleasant and motivating
environment. I discovered being thrust into a sometimes daunting environment can be challenging when
you are developing the language but acknowledging the importance of exposure to new situations is an
crucial step forward. I believe this experience has made me a more positive and resilient person.
