Having been a manager at my previous job, I worked hard to open up my own shop, where I have employed a team of skilled people. Currently, being the owner of TECNO plus, an electronic repair and sales store, has taught me leadership, responsibility, professionalism and essential retail skills.

Studying this course has increased my understanding of the many factors which influence development such as generating profit through business. A key ability I can use alongside my business degree to thrive in a competitive retail environment. 

 

2:1 BSc International Business, University of Birmingham (2018)

The modules I studied during my business degree allowed me to work on different projects in groups while being under a time constraint. This has effectively shaped the way I communicate with people while allowing me to become a productive team player. Additionally, oral presentations carried out professionally have boosted my self-confidence and taught me key business skills such as persuasive techniques.

I have opened up my own store, employing a group of people. It specializes in selling, buying, repairing electronics such as, laptops and phones. whilst providing money transfer services such as Western union, Ria and Money Gram. This business has improved my IT skills significantly along with my problem-solving skills. 

Duties:

  • Managing, employing and working with people from different backgrounds and beliefs and communicating with them to make sure their work is efficient 
  • Being responsible and keeping track of profits to understand how best to maintain the business and develop it further 
  • Providing excellent service to develop and maintain a large customer base in the store
  • Setting and meeting daily sales targets
