About Kulsuma Khanum:

I have always thought of teaching as something valuable and meaningful. I obtain great pleasure in watching how the children interact and respond in an educational simulating environment. Teaching to me is more than education, it is shaping a human being, nurturing them into strong minded and independent individuals for the world we live in today. A world where they can strive to become who they want to be.

One of the many reasons I have chosen to apply for the position is because of my love for teaching younger children. My energy and enthusiasm drives primary aged children to stay engaged and focused throughout my time with them. I fully believe I have the drive, passion and ability required for this kind of demanding role of a teacher.

For the past twelve years I have worked for Headstart Education, which is an educational provision for primary aged children. I have taught and planned lessons for key stage one and two classes for 8years. As a result of my performance at Headstart Education Centre I was offered the position of Primary Years Coordinator which involved researching and implementing changes to the UK primary curriculum for the benefit of the children and training teachers to be confident leaders.

In addition, I have undertaken safeguarding and prevent, SENCO, computing (beebot and scratch),  first aid and fire training during my time there. I have also delivered trainings for my own personal development which involved researching related topics  and bringing out critical and logical thinking in fellow staff members.

Previous to this I have worked in retail and finance sector in the past however I always found myself steering towards teaching. I am fully devoted to teaching as a career and find it to be rewarding and fulfilling.

Last year, I organised a successful food bank drive where children got involved and bought supplies for families in crisis in Redbridge. My passion can further be seen in another fundraising appeal I organised in the centre. I did an in house competition where I encouraged classes to compete with one another to raise the most money. As a result we raised a grand total of approximately £35,000 for the destitute in war torn countries. I believe this taught the children a valuable lesson about compassion, humanity and the obligation to look after those who are in difficulty.

I have so much to offer; I love learning and giving. I always keep an open mind when it comes to professional feedback and will strive to implement any advice wholeheartedly. Recently I undertook training on the new Ofsted Framework which gave an overview of its expectations on schools and teachers in the UK. It made my determination greater in wanting to persevere and to pursue my goal of becoming a qualified teacher. In 2021 I gained my qualified teacher status, I was working part time and working towards my goal of becoming a teacher. It was a two year course however I completed it in one year.

I believe that my ability and passion to teach is enriched by the fact that I have three young children. I have the insight of a parents perspective. From my experience I know what the expectations from a teaching professional and an as a parent, this is beneficial to have both outlooks and the services the education sector provides.

In conclusion, I am ready to move ahead  in the direction of teaching abroad where I hope to be given the opportunity to shape young minds and nurture personal-wellbeing as a human. I hope to fulfil my dream and make a lasting impression on the generations to come
