About Lakumitha Jegatheeswaran:
I am a passionate and highly motivated biomedical science graduate with a year of hands-on experience as a patient drug safety intern at Bristol Myers Squibb. I am eager to leverage my knowledge and practical skills to contribute to a dynamic healthcare organisation dedicated to patient well-being and safety. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to join a scientific team and contribute to the mission of ensuring product safety and regulatory compliance.
Experience
During my internship at Bristol Myers Squibb, I had the privilege of working closely with the patient safety team, where I gained a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape within the pharmaceutical industry. This experience allowed me to develop a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to ensuring product safety and compliance. Throughout my academic and internship experiences, I have demonstrated a proactive approach to staying informed about evolving medical device regulations, standards, and guidelines. My internship involved interpreting and applying complex regulatory guidelines to product development and post-market activities. I successfully collaborated with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products complied with all relevant regulations, contributing to the company's commitment to patient safety. I am well-prepared to assist in developing regulatory strategies and preparing submissions. My analytical skills, coupled with my understanding of regulatory frameworks, enable me to assist in the preparation of comprehensive and compliant submissions.
Education
I have a bachelor's degree in biomedical science from the University of Surrey. My degree consists of 30 modules focused on the study of the biological and medical aspects of human health and diseases. It encompasses a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, microbiology, genetics, pharmacology, and biochemistry, providing a comprehensive understanding of the human body's functions and the mechanisms underlying various diseases. Throughout my degree, I have also grasped basic experimental skills in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology and microbiology, ranging from aseptic technique, cell culture, polymerase chain reaction, gel electrophoresis, and Southern blotting to immunofluorescence technique. In addition, as a biomedical science graduate, I explored topics relevant to healthcare and medical advancements, including the development and testing of pharmaceuticals, medical technologies, and diagnostic tools. Also, I am well-versed in ethical considerations and regulatory aspects of the healthcare and life sciences industries.
