About Lara Bonczek:
Open-minded, passionate and hard-working PR student at University of Westminster. Have completed my bachelor’s dissertation on the Black Lives Matter movement in British Media and currently work on my master’s dissertation on COVID misinformation in Great Britain. Looking to make a successful start to my career in PR by contributing as a former intern at the German Ministry for Labour, Health and Social Affairs.
Experience
I also completed a 5-month internship in the German Ministry for Labour, Health and Social Affairs. My responsibilities during the internship included drafting press releases for media outlets and State Chancellery of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, writing press invitations for press agents and handling requests for interviews and proofreading. Besides, I wrote posts and created content for the social media accounts for the Ministry. Moreover, I supported the organisation and administration of events (e.g. Remembrance Day for children and people with disabilities who suffered in care homes between 1945-1990).
By doing so, I gained hands-on experience and knowledge of German Government policies in Labour, Health and Social Affairs and I developed experience in communications and public relations in national setting. Furthermore, I became familiar with handling requests from print, broadcast, and online media for expert comment and in the preparation of experts for media interviews and enhanced my writing and proofreading skills.
Education
In my undergraduate degree, I have created a podcast about the cultural institutions during COVID 19. I gained knowledge on how to use image and audio editing programs and gained skills in Adobe Audition, In-Design, Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. Moreover, I created my own print magazine about astrology, wrote various online articles for the university's website. By doing so, I learned how to identify relevant newsworthy stories. Besides, I have recorded movies as well as radio segments about, for example, the problems faced by international students in England as a result of Brexit.
