About Laurita Kunickaitė:

I am currently a student at the University of Westminster, where I am studying for a BSc in Data Science and Analytics. I am passionate about data analysis and I am actively seeking internships in the field to gain practical experience.

My background in biomedical science has honed my ability to remain calm under pressure, which is a crucial skill in the fast-paced world of data analytics. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team has also helped me develop strong communication and time management skills, which I believe will be invaluable in any data analytics role.

During my time in biomedical science, I took on various quality improvement projects in different fields, where I led departmental audits. I also participated in statistical projects using SPSS, which gave me practical experience in data analysis.

Combining my background, experiences, and enthusiasm for technology and research, I am confident that I have what it takes to succeed in a career in the data world. I am excited to continue building on my skills and knowledge as I progress in my studies and pursue internships in data analytics/science.

Experience

In my professional journey from January 2020 to the present, I have had the privilege of serving as a Senior Staff member at HCA Healthcare's The Princess Grace Hospital. This role has allowed me to immerse myself in the specialized field of Orthopaedic and Sports Medicinal Care, where I apply my expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. As a leader within the hospital, I've taken on the responsibility of managing a dedicated team of healthcare professionals. In this capacity, I provide guidance, supervision, and support to junior staff members, fostering an environment that prioritizes the delivery of high-quality patient care.

One of the aspects I cherish most in my current role is the emphasis on collaboration and a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare. Working closely with professionals from various departments, I ensure that our patients receive holistic care that addresses all aspects of their well-being. This approach aligns with my commitment to patient safety and satisfaction, which I actively support through participation in quality improvement initiatives. These initiatives involve developing and refining protocols, guidelines, and standards of care. By diligently monitoring outcomes, I identify areas where our team can make meaningful improvements, ultimately enhancing the patient experience.

Office management is another critical aspect of my role, where I oversee work scheduling and the maintenance of essential medical records and data sources. These responsibilities are integral to providing exceptionally high-quality care to our patients, ensuring that we have the necessary information at our fingertips to make informed decisions and deliver the best possible treatment.

Before my current position, I worked as a Staff Nurse at the Royal Brompton Hospital, specifically on the Sir Reginald Wilson ward. In this role, I focused on providing comprehensive care and monitoring to patients with cardiac conditions. Effective teamwork and collaboration were vital components of this role, as I coordinated patient care plans, progress, and interventions with an interdisciplinary team. Ensuring seamless continuity of care for cardiac patients was not only professionally fulfilling but also crucial for patient outcomes.

Additionally, I spent time as a Senior Staff and Team Leader at HFH Healthcare, where I provided domiciliary care to patients in the comfort of their homes. This role allowed me to develop essential skills in care coordination, communication, and reporting. Beyond the physical aspects of care, I recognized the importance of emotional and social support in enhancing the overall quality of life for individuals in need. Building relationships with clients, offering companionship, and being a listening ear were valuable aspects of this role that I took to heart.

In my diverse experiences across these healthcare settings, I've cultivated a deep appreciation for the multidimensional nature of patient care. Whether in a hospital setting or in patients' homes, I remain dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality healthcare and continuously improving my skills to better serve those entrusted to my care. My journey in healthcare has been both rewarding and humbling, motivating me to continue my pursuit of excellence in the field.
