About Lee Hurst:

A conscientious and professional worker with extensive experience in the field of Education, Support and Management as well as running a small business. Almost 20 years working with adults and young people in both education and training environments culminated in serving as Vice Principal in a successful secondary academy. My career has largely focussed on the inclusion and support aspect of the education system, therefore forming positive relationships with both students, their families and various support agencies through effective communication has been paramount. I have managed a variety of teams consisting of up to 30 individuals and successfully led on several whole school and community initiatives.

I am hardworking, flexible, an excellent communicator, positive, enthusiastic, responsible,  punctual, reliable and well organised. I possess excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and non-verbal and have the ability to form positive relationships with both co-workers and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key member of the Senior Leadership Team contributing to the strategic development and improvement of the organisation by implementing and monitoring whole school initiatives.
  • Providing professional leadership and management of all educational support staff.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the work of the Deep Support Team promoting the learning and welfare of vulnerable students.
  • Being accountable for the progression of identified groups of students including EAL, SEND.
  • To lead on the professional development and performance management of educational staff.
  • Lead on the co-ordination and monitoring of academy exclusions and behaviour systems.
  • Accountable for the progression of Pupil Premium students through effective use of funding.
  • Co-ordinate admissions of new students, student transfers, managed and respite moves.
  • Co-ordinating off-site education trips and residential visits ensuring risk assessments are accurate and meeting health and safety standards.


Inclusion Co-ordinator, Outwood Academy Valley, Worksop

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead and manage the Inclusion Team as well as the academic and emotional development of key vulnerable groups of students narrowing the gaps in attainment.
  • To chair meetings with external providers, professionals and families.
  • To co-ordinate and quality assure alternative off-site provision and qualifications.
  • Ensure consistent systems and procedures are maintained, monitoring the effectiveness and impact of the Inclusion Team.
  • Key contributor in the development and implementation of the Behaviour System used throughout the academy chain.
  • Key lead on the implementation of numeracy and literacy initiatives within the academy.
  • To access appropriate funding initiatives inc National Lottery Funding (used to develop a joint school and community multi sensory garden and allotment area).
  • Developing and implementing transition summer school programmes for vulnerable students.

Inclusion Manager, Outwood Academy Valley, Worksop

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate work and develop specific strategies with students including those with Behaviour and Special Educational Needs, negotiating action plans to maximise achievement.
  • Oversee the Student Development Centre managing a small team of Learning Mentors. 
  • Provide personalised learning opportunities for individual students supporting individual needs
  • Responsible for the accurate recording of vulnerable student data, records and information.
  • Negotiate, develop and initiate alternative packages of support and education for key students
  • Implementing and monitoring individually tailored multi-agency support plans.

Senior Learning Mentor, Oakwood High School, Rotherham

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and addressing the needs of students with barriers to learning.
  • Developing 1-1 mentoring relationships with students as well as enlisting the support of key external agencies, parents and carers.
  • To develop and manage all areas of transition and out of hours study provision.
