About Lee Thompson:

I am a Project Manger with over 20 years experience in construction, with a proven track record of delivering large, complex and technical MEP projects, on time, on budget and to an very high standard. I started my career as an apprentice electrician, from the ground up, I have built upon my excellent foundations and recognised electrical qualifications by gaining practical experience and knowledge in both Mechanical and Domestic Services to become a well rounded and knowledgeable PM.

Experience

• Skyline Development & Construction – West London Film Studio (20M) 2022 – current.

Responsible for working with designers, consultants and clients to develop the stage 4 drawings into stage 5 for all MEP systems i.e. Containment, Small Power, Lighting, Heating & Cooling, Ventilation, Domestic Services, Above Ground Drainage, Gas Services, Lightning Protection, Auxiliary Systems e.g. CCTV, Intruder Alarm, Disabled Toilet Alarm, Disabled Refuge System, Data System, Fire Alarm etc. Whilst assisting with the HV contestable/ non-contestable design woks and developing the HV private network, alongside approving all materials/ equipment via technical submittals before sourcing the best prices and negotiating subcontractor contracts, prior to overseeing installation teams, ensuring health & safety is paramount along with the highest standards of workmanship.

• SSE Enterprise Contracting – Brooksby Building (70M) 2021 – 2022. 

Responsible for overseeing the electrical installation delivery team, consisting of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Site Manager/ Supervisors, Document Controllers and various sub-contractors. Responsible for ensuring the Power & Lighting installation was in accordance with the design and supplied materials were in accordance with the specification from the high voltage transformers to the end of the low voltage circuits, whilst maintaining high health & safety and workmanship standards.

• ME&I Department Manager – JR Pridham – 2020 – 2021. 

At JRP, I was the Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation Department Manager, which consisted of 10 Project Managers/ Engineers and 30 site staff of various grades, spread across two offices (Reading & Caerphilly), with an annual turnover of between 4&6M. JRP are very well known within the water treatment sector and we worked for utilities companies such as Thames Water, Wessex Water and Seven Trent Water to name but a few. Typically, projects would be NEC3 Contracts involving the installation of gas/ water meters, MCC’s, VSD's, pumps, blowers, floats, actuators Etc. Requiring Telemetry and local/ Regional SCADA via digital/ analogue connections as necessary, with most projects being delivered in accordance with CDM. My scope was to implement change, restructure, create new and improve old processes to increase the departments performance and help increase profits. Examples of my daily duties mainly focused on the management of the project delivery team, ensuring works were progressing effectively, reviewing the SOB, billing, review of monthly financials targets, reviewing quotations/ RAMS, assisting with technical queries, labour requirements, promotions, disciplinary hearings, PIP reviews, dismissals, investigations, coaching and developing staff (Including Several Apprentices), liaising with clients and assisting with quotes/ project management where necessary.

• Senior Electrical Manager – Thomas Interiors Ltd - 2015 - 2020. 

Thomas Interiors were the longest serving framework contractor at Heathrow Airport. As the Senior Electrical Manager, I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the electrical department, which consisted of Electrical Managers/ Estimators and between 15 to 25 site staff of various grades, with an annual turnover between 2&4M. I was involve with projects from conception to completio and oversaw all aspects. I acted as the main point of contact for several key clients - an area where I was able to take advantage of my friendly and outgoing personality, ensuring these relationships were maintained and improved where possible, which in turn helped the department increase turnover significantly during my tenure. I was lucky enough to represent the company at events such as Royal Ascot and charity golf days held at places such as Foxhills, Billingbear and Cuddington. As a brief outline, I assisted with design where necessary, produced AUTO CAD schematics, priced and negotiate costs, (including extra works), reviewed CV's, interviewed and employed new starters, produced Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Project Managed (ensuring completions were on time, on budget and to specification), oversaw other electrical managers, estimators, supervisors, electricians, apprentices, sub-contractors, administrative support staff and assisted, coached and developed all where possible. We were typically involved with NEC3 Contracts/ CDM Projects, delivering CAT A/ B fit outs, retail fit outs, new power supplies (3Phase) new lighting systems (DALI), addressable fire alarm installations (including vesda & linea heat systems) to name but a few. I was the NICEIC Principle Duty Holder and the nominated person upon the 'Safe Contractor' certificate for Fire Alarm installations. I reported directly to the Managing Director and updated him of the electrical departments progress both financially and site wise for all projects at weekly/ monthly meetings. Additionally, I attended weekly meetings with Mace, Balfour Beatty and Ferrovial to update progress with the works we were delivering for them.

• Anesco – 2014 – 2015.

Responsible for overseeing various solar farms and large scale commercial roof top solar systems, ensuring projected generation outputs were met. Responsible for ensuring site staff worked safely and effectively with the assistance of the Administration, Performance and Analyst Team(s). NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, responsible for ensuring works were carried out in accordance with BS7671 and NICEIC guidelines, reviewing and approving test certificates and providing technical support where required. Presenting monthly TBT’s, vehicle checks and assisting with the design team.

• Flex Connectors – 2012 – 2014.

The role involved designing prefabricated lighting control systems for commercial properties with unique functional characteristics or extreme energy consumption issues. I was expected to produce quotations for these designs, present them to customers and help where necessary during the installation process. I produced schematics and acted as a point of technical support for all other Project Support Engineers. In addition to this, I was expected to arrange meetings with consultants with the intention of demonstrating the Flex 7 system and having Flex Connectors specified.  I was responsible for introducing Barbour ABI – construction intelligence software to the company and was required to progress and source leads from this software, providing feedback on how best to create opportunities to other Project Support Engineers and Business Development Managers, during National Sales meetings.

• Carillion Energy Services. 2011 – 2012.

My main responsibilities consisted of installing Photovoltaic systems to domestic houses. Each installation required a test certificate which I carried out in accordance with NICEIC and BS 7671 guidelines. I also had the added responsibility of training several new recruits to the department and was selected to install several sub-contracted jobs for Everest. Additionally, I was required to inspect sub-contractor installations and submitted paperwork and highlight any failures in professionalism.

• R. W. Electrical Contractors. 2002 – 2011.
