About lewis hill:
I am an Automotive and motorsport graduate currently working towards a master’s degree in automotive engineering at The University of Staffordshire. I am a highly motivated and dedicated individual with a strong background in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, coupled with a deep passion for motorsport. My experience ranges from the Greenpower race series that I was apart of in college to formula student in my current university, contributing to the success of each team. I am confident when using different types of engineering software’s, including, Computer aided design, Computrol fluid dynamics and Analysis software's. I love sports and other physical activities. I have been consistently competing in rugby since the age of 9 and been the captain of multiple different teams, including the Staffordshire Universities Rugby team. I am an avid gym goer and runner, who enjoys constantly improving my physical health. Physical and mental wellbeing is extremely important to me. I also enjoy reading, traveling and hiking in my spare time.
Experience
When it comes to professional experience I have main work in retail, wherein have learnt a lot of key communication and problem-solving skills. I have had a lot of experience in motorsport but whilst in education. Whilst studying my Level 3 in engineering at Chelmsford college I contributed to the design and construction of an eco-electric racing car for the Greenpower Racing Series, which is an international competition for students up to 24 years old. The competition promotes sustainable engineering, with competition days, racing electric cars at venues like Silverstone. We competed in the Formula 24 Plus category, racing against international teams. Greenpower cars, are ‘Go-Kart’ style vehicles which used a simple mobility scooter battery and motor as its propulsion system, reaching speeds of 35mph. this experience granted me some extremely valuable skills, from basic motorsport skills (such as monitoring the vehicle as it goes round the track and successfully pulling of a pit stop when necessary) to problem solving under pressure. For the last couple of years, I have been involved with the annual formula student competition which The University of Staffordshire competes in. The aim of this competition is to design and build a single seater race car using extremely specific specifications and regulation. During my participation I have had the opportunity to work in a team and produce a successful race car which in 2022 came second overall in the competition but was the most successful British team in the competition. Over the years I have worked on 3 major roles these being the chassis, powertrain and most recently the aerodynamics, putting every skill that I have learned during my degree to the test. I have also been a part of key sponsor meetings where we were tasked with producing a presentation and conducting a meeting to try and acquire sponsorships for the team.
