Lucy Hamley
Healthcare
About Lucy Hamley:
I am a qualified Physician associate looking for work in the South West area.
Experience
University Hospitals, Plymouth (2022-2023)
I have completed a wide range of core placements including medical assessment unit, healthcare of the elderly and general medicine, along with speciality placements such as obstetrics and gynaecology and neurology. During this time, I have practiced and developed an array of techniques including venepuncture, cannulation, arterial blood gas sampling, and catheterisation to name a few. I have expanded my skills in writing consultations, information giving to patients, and breaking bad news.
Specialist Outreach and Recovery Team (SORT), Plymouth (2023)
I have experience in a mental health placement in the community, specifically reaching out to patients that have complex needs, such as schizophrenia that are being managed outside of hospital. Here, I developed many techniques to communicate with patients and develop rapports to help them understand their condition and undertake daily activities. I have also carried out mental state examinations and have substantial knowledge on mental health assessments and acts.
Old Bridge Surgery, Looe (2023)
My general practice placement has enabled me to expand my knowledge in common primary care complaints, whilst developing exceptional communication skills within telephone consultations and triaging. I have really enjoyed going on home visits out in the community as it has helped me to learn how to adapt to different situations quickly, for example doing examinations.
