Macauley Metcalfe

As a Design Engineer and Visualizer with a degree in Product Design, I have a unique blend of creativity and technical expertise. With over 3+ years of experience in the design process from concept to final product, designing for manufacture, working to specifications and briefs, and proficiency in SolidWorks CAD program, I am competent at turning ideas into actual products. In addition, I have experience in creating user manuals and graphics that are easy to understand and visually appealing. I am skilled in using Adobe Creative Suite and other design software to create high-quality illustrations and diagrams that effectively communicate technical information to the end-users. I am always eager to learn and stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and technologies, and am committed to developing my skills to further my design career.

Working with clients in the UK and internationally to deliver luxury and high- quality products. Involved in the design process from concept development to final product and provide technical support as needed. Worked with the onsite workshop and production teams to design and create 3D CAD models with accompanying Engineering drawings for manufacture using SolidWorks. Created manuals and instruction books to accompany projects. Also created custom graphics for dials, internal graphics, displays, and sales documentation using Adobe Suite. Ensured seamless integration of mechanical and aesthetic design elements, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve any design challenges that arose during the design and production process. Worked at the company for over 3 years.

Graduated in 2019 from the University of Derby with a first class honours in BA Product Design. Whilst at University, I was fortunate enough to work for various companies on real-world design projects. These companies included Silk Mill Museum Derby, a luxury bathroom products company, The Corrugated Case Company, and Plumbworld. These real-world design project, along side the university curricula, have collectively provided me with a solid foundation of skill, preparing me to further myself in the future. Through these experiences, I have learned to adapt to different design disciplines, work effectively within multi- disciplinary teams, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of various clients.
