Duties: 

- Operating within the National Lighthouse Lab at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (Glasgow) to support COVID-19 testing in accordance with UK’s National Testing Programme.
- Extracting viral RNA involving multiple plate filling steps for various washes and ultimately elution.
- Coordinating sample transfer, lysis and viral inactivation in deep well plates under Category 2.
- Performing qPCR on clinical samples, including production of a PCR master mix under appropriate conditions.
- Adhering to documented procedures (SOP) for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded with accuracy on LIMS.
- Analysing and interpreting data/test results according to standard procedures and presenting findings with accuracy.
- Ensuring that health and safety legislation is maintained at all times, and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
- Participating in both internal and external quality control processes to uphold high standards at all times.
- Reviewing existing laboratory procedures and implementing process changes to drive improvements. 

 


 

Education

MSc in Oral Science (Life Sciences)

Grade: Merit ( Distinction in Thesis)

Thesis: In vitro differential expression of Candida albicans genes associated with carcinogenic Acetaldehyde (ACH) production in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC).
