About Mark C Reilly:

For as long as I can remember I have been enthusiastic about all things design. This eventually led to me pursuing this passion professionally by leaving my job in corporate pensions to undertake a BSC with an Honours degree in Digital Media and Interaction Design degree at Napier University.  I have a lot of relevant experience learned and practiced throughout my degree, as well as transferable skills from my previous career, that I believe will benefit me in starting my new career

Throughout my 5 years at College and University, I worked extensively with Graphic Design, and animation, as well as enhancing my skills with various software programs, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects, Autodesk 3DS Max, and Autodesk Maya. For my Honours Project in my final year of University, I built a digital artifact in Unreal Engine to investigate and explore environmental storytelling in an interactive medium. To do this, I created an interactive level and had participants trial the level, whilst I collected data.

Whilst undertaking my degree, I worked freelance as both a Video Editor for YouTube Content Creator and a Graphic Designer for various companies.

Experience

Whilst undertaking my degree, I worked freelance as both a Video Editor for YouTube Content Creator and a Graphic Designer for various companies. As a Video Editor I maintained my work to an extremely high standard and while also adhering to strict timescales to ensure uploads were completed as per the required upload schedule.

I worked as a freelance Graphic designer for a new company and helped provide all their logos and signage used as their marketing for both their social media and their company vehicle. I also worked on the overall design used for their paperwork and other administrative documents. As part of this process, I had to see through the entire process from initial ideation and researching other marketing trends to finding the appropriate production methods that suited the client’s needs. This is all still used by the company to this date.

My previous role in Corporate Pensions at Scottish Widows refined my attention to detail, time management and problem-solving skills, as I worked in a past paced environment managing corporate accounts, where I often worked to strict deadlines, and was regularly expected to issue reports to managers and clients. I oversaw and managed 37 of the trickiest accounts to fix long-running issues to ensure they stayed with our company. I therefore had to have exemplary communication skills and work well with others and be an active part of the team, as well as independently. During my time at College and University, I was able to use a lot of the skills honed in my corporate finance days, which was one of the benefits of being a mature student.
