I have worked for over 26 years in the Oil and Gas industry, as a Process Operator and Control Room Operator at Grangemouth, Scotland. My practical experience and studies have enabled me to be;

Control Room Operator - Petroineos Grangemouth

There are around 60 storage tanks in the Tank Field area, containing various components such as Reformate, Alkylate, Naphtha, Gas Oil, Wax, Tar, etc. These are either blended to make finished products such as Petrol, Diesel, Aviation fuel, etc. or dispatched by road, rail, ship and pipeline according to Production Planning and Business requirements.
The Tank Field also provides feedstock for many of the refinery units including the Hydrocracker, Cat Reformer, Cat Cracker and Crude Distillation Units. My role involves the following;

• Use of DCS system to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, flows, and trends in all tanks to ensure continuous safe operations
• Respond appropriately to alarms, messages, faults and overrides 
• Follow Operating Procedures, Operational Risk Assessments, and P&ID’s
• Work closely with Production Planning to meet business needs and carry out blends and transfers in a safe and efficient manner
• Liaise with other Control Room Operators and Shift Leader to ensure continuous safe operation of the Refinery 
• Work effectively with colleagues at the Jetties, Road Station, Rail Terminal, Finnart and Labs to enable optimum operations
• Ensure operational activities are properly documented, explained and communicated at shift handovers
• Provide support and training to new Technicians to ensure the attainment of competency levels
