About Michael Waring:
I am a positive, motivated and reliable individual with a flexible attitude and the ability to work well in a team or individually. I have over 11 years of experience dealing with customers in a variety of different ways, including in person, via email and over the phone. Within my past roles, I have been able to develop many skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving – all of which will stand me in good stead for any future roles I may have.
Throughout my professional career I have worked extensively with Microsoft Excel, using a wide range of formulas and functions to manage data, automate workflows, track project timelines, and support pricing and proposal development. My proficiency included tools such as INDEX-MATCH, IF statements, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and data validation, which enabled efficient and accurate data handling across multiple projects. In addition, I recently began working with Microsoft Power BI to enhance reporting and data visualization. I continue to develop my skills with the platform, building interactive dashboards and gaining deeper insights from project and business data.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, I was responsible for the day to day management of sustainability projects. This included onboarding clients into our internal management systems, requesting data and information from clients, the pricing of work and proposal creation for clients. Some of my other responsibilities included:
- Being the first point of contact for new clients via email and telephone.
- Arranging and taking part in meetings with clients, including being the designated minutes taker to allow with smooth transition into completing tasks off the back of the discussion.
- Scheduling and allocating work to consultants
- Ensure deadlines are being met and oversee completion of projects.
- Assisting the Company Director and Operations Manager with business development, including the design and maintenance of internal tools using Microsoft Excel and PowerBI to allow for new work to be carried out.

Sustainability Analyst Manager

Collaborating with the Director of Sustainability and Carbon, I ensured excellent delivery of services to our clients, identifying and escalating complex issues or inquiries and ensuring prompt resolution and follow-up. The primary objective of this role was to support and enhance team productivity, communication and personal growth. My responsibilities included:
- Day to day oversight of the professional development of the analyst team, including managing workload of the team alongside the project coordinator and leading bi-weekly team meetings to inform and evaluate the team’s work targets.
- Maintaining a high-level working knowledge of the compliance schemes the team work on to be the first line of contact for any internal queries from the team or external queries from clients.
- Continuing with my Senior Sustainability Analyst responsibilities by managing my own portfolio of clients, including having responsibility of the highest value contracts within the Sustainability Team.
- Developing internal development pathways to support the Analyst Team with their own personal and professional development to help them progress to more senior roles within the team.
- Taking part in senior management calls/meetings to develop business development plans and company strategies.
Senior Sustainability Analyst

Under direction of my Sustainability Manager, I collected data and performed statistical analysis for external clients to ensure they comply with government legislation. I also developed unique methodologies and processes in order to perform analysis of this data. My responsibilities also included:
- Performing statistical analysis of emissions levels and other sustainability indicators by researching and collecting data from a variety of sources.
- Writing reports describing findings, recommendations and overall environmental impacts by identifying areas for improvement, developing recommendations for follow-up actions and presenting this information to internal and external audiences.
- Inputting data into internal tools from a variety of sources, including invoices and supplier produced billing reports, and then reviewing this to ensure no anomalies within the data and quality control of my inputs.

Manager
April 2017-August 2019
I was promoted to the Manager role after returning from university. The role involved running the cinema and being responsible for up to 8 employees whilst on shift. I was also tasked with performing against targets and had the responsibility of handling the site’s payroll. More specific responsibilities included:
- To input accurate payroll data into the system and ensure actual hours worked are checked and correctly recorded so that the staff are paid both accurately and punctually.
- To undertake weekly stock counts to ensure pricing strategies are maintained and ensure that there is a high level of accuracy when performing these counts.
- To review the cinema’s future opportunities and past performances against pre-agreed targets and take appropriate actions in order to maximise operating profit – such as reviewing past occupancy levels and sales figures.
- To source, interview and appoint candidates for non-management vacancies and manage recruitment administration so that job offers and contracts are sent out correctly.
- To build effective working relationships in order to facilitate handovers, the sharing of best practice, working together on shared projects and providing support for each other.
- Creating the weekly staff rota, ensuring correct staffing levels at all times whilst also keeping within payroll limits and using Microsoft Excel throughout every shift to review how payroll at the site is being managed.
- Managing a smooth-running shift by organising staff and delegating jobs to ensure customer satisfaction and service is always prioritised.
- Supervising and coaching Customer Assistants by giving them regular feedback on their performance in order to develop their skills and maximise the cinema’s performance.
Customer Assistant

This was as a part time role whilst I was studying for my A Levels. As a Customer Assistant I was expected to deal effectively and efficiently with customers to make sure their visit to the cinema was always a great experience. Here, my responsibilities included:
- Dealing with customers, selling tickets, answering their questions and resolving any issues.
- Upselling food and beverages to ensure maximum profitability at all times.
- The ability to perform a variety of different tasks within the same shift, including serving customers, cleaning screens and restocking fridges/stands.
- Working with new colleagues to make sure they were able to successfully carry out their role.
