Michelle Doyle

My name is Michelle Doyle I am currently finishing up my NQT year teaching both GCSE and A level Art, Graphic Design and Photography in the UK in a school called The Highcrest Academy. 

I completed the Professional Master of Education in Art and Design with digital media in Limerick School of Art and design in 2020 where I received a First-class Honours degree. 

I am interested in the art and design teacher job in Dubai for this upcoming academic year. After teaching in both the UK and Ireland I would love to further my teaching by getting the opportunity to work in a different country and experience a different culture.

I would love to get the opportunity to work in a school environment with a keen interest in extracurricular activities. In the school I am currently working in I was involved in creating set designs for the school play Snow White. I have also help after-school art clubs and interventions to help students make up for lost time during covid. I was also heavily involved in the TY competition Junk Kouture with both my placement schools Our Lady’s Bower and Moate Community College in Ireland securing a number of places in the final. 

My background is in Fashion design, and I completed my BA in Limerick school of art and design in 2015. Upon finishing my BA I gained industry experience working in a small fashion company in London Georgia Hardinge and also going on a one year graduate visa to New York where I got the opportunity to work in High fashion design companies such as Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler. These jobs helped develop my communication skills as I was often working with large teams between different departments. Similarly, to the art classroom these fashion companies always had an element of problem solving with every day being different. The environment was highly creative, and I feel that these experiences are transferable to teaching art and design.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE 

Sept – present 2021 The Highcrest Academy, High Wycombe, Bucks, England, Uk Art, Photography and Graphic design teacher • Taught year 7 to 13 (GCSE and A Level) • Conducted art clubs after school for years 7-8 • Held after school interventions with year 11 to make up for lost time during covid • Collaborated with the English department to develop writing across the curriculum • Collaborated with the drama department to make sets for a school play

August - September 2017 Freelance Design Assistant-GA Design and Sourcing, New York • Created flat drawings, measured garments, made fit notes, emailed suppliers and factories, picked out fabrics and trims, etc • Extensive experience within a collaborative, team- orientated environment 

March-July 2017 Design and Development intern Proenza Schouler, New York • I worked alongside designers, seamstresses and pattern drafters for the Spring 2018 collection runway show and white label collection. •Sewed and developed swatch samples, dressed models for look books etc 

August 16-March 2017 Studio Assistant intern - Alexander Wang, New York • I worked alongside designers, seamstresses and pattern drafters for the Spring, resort and fall 2017 collection runway shows • Updated line sheets, liaised with factories, ran errands to suppliers, created tech and trim packs, developed fabric swatches, worked backstage for shows etc 

March-August 2014 Design assistant intern - Georgia Hardinge, London • I worked alongside designers, seamstresses and pattern drafters for the Spring Summer 2015 collection • Sewed toiles, sourced fabric, develop and worked on bespoke projects etc • Represented the brand meeting members of the press at London Fashion week
