Nadia Talukder

I have been a primary practitioner 19 years and a Higher Education practitioner for 3 years. In my core I am a passionate primary practitioner who cares deeply about the quality of primary education that children have a right to achieve. I enjoy working in Higher Education as it gives me a sense of purpose and I strongly believe in ensuring that there is equality, diversity and inclusion in the settings that I engage in. I have great emotional intelligence and am a people centric person who can work as part of a team or independently.

I have been a primary school teacher and leader for 19 years in Birmingham and London, with a wealth of experience in Early Years to Key Stage 1 and 2. I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Professional Studies and Partnerships at Birmingham Newman university and work closely with and oversee mentor training to partner schools who mentor Primary ITE trainees. My roles have equipped me with a great knowledge and experience of Initial teacher education, from delivering engaging material which is linked closely to the Core Content Framework to mentoring students, acting as personal tutor and supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.

I completely my Masters in Education last year with Distinction at Birmingham Newman University where I also completed year 1 of the PGCert in HE practice achieving Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Acade. I am working on the second year to gain fellowship status. I'm also currently undertaking doctoral studies at the University of Oxford and am researching the Attainment gap for global majority Muslim females in initial teacher education.
