About Neil Sumner:
I have an absolute passion for supporting students to learn and improve their knowledge and skills. I am confident in delivery and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Whilst working in education for the past 18 years, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to support a huge amount of students, of varying abilities and backgrounds, during their learning journeys. As a conscientious educator, I consider it to be essential to ensure that learners receive the support they need, and are entitled to, in order to achieve the best outcomes for them. I am able to deliver training, both vocational and academic, to a high standard.
As an Internal Quality Assurer with 15 years experience, I am competent, confident and able to interpret at a granular level to assure quality has been satisfied and the required criteria has been met. I have extensive experience and understanding of the requirements for functional skills English and maths and I am equally comfortable with conducting IQA for vocational qualifications. My feedback and support to assessors and tutors has often been cited as exemplary.
During the many years I have spent working in the education sector, with Telford College and Lifetime Training, I have spent many years assessing and coaching vocational skills and teaching functional skills, English and Maths. I have taught one to one, group-based, in person and remotely using Teams and Zoom. Furthermore, I am a qualified and experienced internal verifier, able to conduct formative quality assurance on training delivery and summative on assessment to ensure criteria has been satisfactorily met for achievement.
As a serving SSgt in the Royal Armoured Corps, I have developed a significant amount of experience in training, managing and supporting service personnel. Indeed, my primary role as a troop leader requires me to oversee and develop subordinates within my troop. Secondary to this, I facilitate CR2 gunnery training for my squadron, wider regiment and have also supported regular crews with their gunnery training. CR2 gunnery is technical in nature and requires a high degree of knowledge and ability from an instructional perspective. Maintaining currency and competency to operate on the CR2 platform is a constant cycle of continuation training, managed for each individual to ensure they can crew the platform effectively and safely.
