About Nikola Dornicka:

I am a strong, compassionate individual who finds genuine joy in helping others. One of my proudest achievements of 2024 was participating in a triathlon to raise funds for Action Medical Research. To support this cause, I also organised a bake sale and raffle event, demonstrating my initiative, determination, and ability to bring a community together for a meaningful purpose.

I have excellent organisational skills, which I apply in both professional and personal settings. During my studies, I successfully managed multiple assignments and projects by creating and following a structured timetable. This allowed me to meet deadlines while balancing personal responsibilities effectively.

Working as an A&E Receptionist has taught me how to handle high-pressure environments, face daily challenges, and maintain strong organisational and multitasking skills. I am confident working to tight deadlines and managing high workloads, all while delivering high-quality service.

I am deeply committed to maintaining strict confidentiality and handling personal data with care. My hospital experience has shown me the importance of discretion, especially regarding patient information. I have a thorough understanding of the Data Protection Act and adhere closely to these legal requirements in my current role. I prioritise ethical standards in all professional interactions, safeguarding sensitive information to ensure the privacy and safety of every patient.

In addition to my administrative strengths, I pride myself on my excellent communication skills. I engage professionally with patients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing. I am an active listener, which helps me build trust and demonstrate genuine respect. I strive to treat everyone with kindness, patience, and empathy in every interaction.

Experience

During Covid I started to work for the hospital, as a domestic cleaner alongside my studies . Working as a cleaner has given me experience on how to work with others, it also showed me how to work during challenging times and how to act in a professional environment.

My role in this job is making sure the environment is clean and safe for everyone. my main duties was making sure I look approachable and friendly to ensure everyone feels safe around my presence. Making the environment clean and safe, up to their standards.

Afterwards I worked for Tesco in which I had a responsibility of ensuring that the customers are understood and helped when needed . I had to make sure I look approachable, I also had to carry out outstanding organisation skills.

Currently working in the emergency department, facing patients daily. Ensuring they feel welcomed and looked after, from the start of their care to the finish.

My main duties are ensuring patients are booked into the department to receive treatment. I also carry out a patient detail check upon their booking, this is to ensure patient information is up to date. I also work with the ambulance service collaboratively preparing patients paperwork upon their arrival. I am also responsible for filling patients' discharge notes after their attendance in A&E. If needed I send patient referrals to the relevant departments. Thought my working day I stay focused and organized; this is to ensure I carry out my daily tasks as smoothly as possible.

I use Microsoft platforms during my work hours, to write letters, referrals, and many other documents. In which I have wonderful experience and outlook on how to use these platforms.

I face patients and staff members by answering their calls and queries. This is where I bring out customer service. Most of my time at work, I work closely with the clinical team assisting them. As an example, I check the patient's location and update it.

On a day-to-day basis I work on a computer. In fact, my computer skills are excellent, I am well experienced in working on all the Microsoft platforms. As these are the platforms I use When we face IT problems, I must follow a handwritten log. To make bookings, I ensure everything is organized and goes to the relevant staff in the department. I order not to cause any delay.
