I have just graduated from the University of Southampton with a 2:1 BSc in Geology and am looking for employment in the London and Essex areas. I have a strong background in mathematics and a passion for natural catastrophes. I am ideally looking for the opportunity to train as a Catastrophe Analyst in the insurance/reinsurance sectors. Flood Management Department and Emergency Planning Department, Essex County Council/ ECPEM (Essex Council Protection & Emergency Management) Chelmsford, Essex

• Attendance and contribution to planning and environmental meetings at ECPEM improved communication skills and problem-solving abilities. 

• Flood analysis 

• Fieldwork, including environmental conservation work, provided me with industry knowledge and teamwork through working in a group to reach a set outcome in a short period of time.

Long-standing fascination with natural hazards, strengthened by extensive analysis of Global Tectonics, Geohazards, Geochemistry and Paleo Climate Change. 

• Considerable practical experience in mapping, collection and analysis of data from a range of locations, in the UK and abroad. 

• Strong mathematical skill base, with extensive experience of the practical application of maths and statistics to problem solving. 

• Experience of using Arc GIS and making maps 

• Confident in Excel 

• Experienced in conducting research 

• Extensive fieldwork and data collection experience - visited the Isle of Arran, Southern Spain, Somerset, Dorset, Anglesey and the Isle of Wight 

• Currently completing an online Level 2 Coding qualification.
