About Olivia Storey:
I have been working for the last 2 years within the NHS in multiple administrative roles - my last position being as a Scientific Support Officer care within the Addenbrookes Genomic Laboratories to deliver the best patient care. Before that I had gained a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology & Genetics from the University of East Anglia with first class honours. I am seeking a position to build on my IT skills and organisation within the clinical field, while becoming a more senior member of the company.
Experience
My most recent position was working in a UKAS accredited (ISO 15189:2012 standard), clinical Rare Disease genetics office within Division B of the East Genomic Laboratory Hub. Assisting in diagnostic and familial genetic disorder testing within the East GMSA, processing and triaging patient referral forms. Liasing with Duty Scientists and consultants across the East GLH is required, along with using clinical LIS and LIMS systems.
Key skills I have established include:
· Booking referrals into LIS databases (primarily Epic Hyperspace)n as part of the DS Support role – this involves assigning prep tests and priority, deferring complex or ambiguous requests to the Duty Scientist
· Preparing and authorising sendaway requests to specialist interpretation external laboratories, with correct test codes and authorising clinicians
· Currently receiving training by the WGS referrals team to perform specialty review of received test orders, whilst activating parallel testing (microarrays, maternal cell contamination and QF-PCR Mix 2 analysis) alongside the Cytogenomics team
· Contributed to Trust-wide Epic Implementation by processing sendaways CCV2 testing from 16% to ~40% in 24 hours
Education
I gained a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology & Genetics (1st Class Honours) from UEA in 2021. During my three years of studies I covered modules such as genomics, cell biology, microbiology & statistics for biosciences. My dissertation and complementary presentation written in my final year detailed differential ILS/TOR gene expression profiling to determine lifespan variation across Drosophila melanogaster sexes.
I also have A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Geography (studied at Chigwell School, Essex) - it was also here where I gave a presentation as part of the Biomedical Society titled "Blood Groups - The Molecular Genetics Behind Them"
