About OLORUNFEMI Aworinde:

I currently work with the health economic unit, department of applied health sciences, university of Birmingham as a Research Fellow. I am passionate about using economic analysis and HTA submissions to assist decision making processes in health care and inform polices that will foster better patient outcomes

Experience

• I recently developed a model-based economic evaluation using treeAge pro decision tree for ASSIST study, a UK NIHR funded sexual health research which seeks to assess the impact of online postal self-sampling services for STI and HIV on access to care, health outcomes and health inequality. 2024
• I built a Markov model using EXCEL for the economic evaluation of treatment options for the management of obstetric fistula in Nigeria, where I compared the surgical repair as the intervention against conservative medical management as the usual care from societal perspective. The surgical repair was found to be cost-effective. 2023
• I conducted an economic analysis of treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) using Markov model, where the use of Dapagliflozin in addition to usual care of ACE inhibitors was taken as intervention compared to the use of placebo in addition to the usual care of ACE inhibitors. 2023
• I built a logistic regression model to analyze the association between type 2 diabetic mellitus and predictors such as obesity, age, HDL Cholesterol and hypertension
• I organized and spearheaded a National training of Health workers on Ethics and Health Laws from Nov 2020 - Jan 2022.
- Training of Doctors and Nurses practicing in Plateau State, Nigeria (29th - 31st, Jan 2022)
- Training of Doctors and Nurses practicing in Kano State, Nigeria (9th - 11th Oct 2021)
- Training of Doctors and Nurses practicing in Lagos State, Nigeria (15-17 Nov 2020)
• I initiated the process in partnership with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) for the establishment of COVID 19 testing center within the National Assembly community in 2020.
• I partnered with the center for Disease Control, Abuja to ensure that all staff of the office of Mr. Speaker are duly immunized against yellow fever virus.
