About Oriana Rowe:
I am a very passionate person about most things in life, this is shown through the range of work and life experiences i have.
During my late teenage years i achieved many awards and trophies such as the alan golding comunity service award, and the half country chess trophy leading to my playing in the national competition becoming 34th in the country.
I have been a glider pilot since the age of 17, gaining my solo qualification in under 25 hours of flight time, which would equate to about 5 straight weeks of training. This helped to lead me to be awarded the ab initio trophy at my gliding club.
Ontop of all these, my favourite hobbys also include Ballet, singing and acting. I always taught myself ballet growing up and then took adult ballet classes for just over a year. With all this I was allowed to go en pointe and train further. I have done many solo songs and group performances in concerts and shows both in and outside of school. I always participated in the school musical theatre productions and vocal group (choir) performances.
I am a hard working, determined person. I will get stuck into anything and do what i can to achieve the best results. I can work just as effectively within a team as I can on my own. I am also a compassionate person. Due to my traumas in life and struggles with mental health, I feel I can connect with people on a different level. It is important to me to show that no mattwr what your disability or mental health struggle is, no matter what your mental or especially physical scars are, that eventhough it may be difficult at times you can do anything you want to in this world. That your struggles and scars are nothing to be ashamed of, that nothing can stop you when you put your mind to it.
Experience
I spent my last years of school working at my family boat yard, helping to clean and work on our hire boats. This is from cleaning inside and outsides of the boats, to doint equipment inventories, brass polishing and helping with jobs like toilet tank pump outs.
I have worked retail for 2 years with asda in their home shopping department, ranging from managing the click and collect station, to picking the shoping, to becoming a delivery driver for the last year of working there. Within these 2 years I was often left in charge of running the depart.ent when managers were absent, with even higher store managers coming to me for solutions.
I spent a few months working in a pub/restaurant just before the covid lockdown, whilst it wasnt long due to covid, it was time enough to further my customer service skills and much more.
I have worked as cabin crew for Ryanair for just over a year. In this year i have worked my way to being a no2 which means i manage and was responsible for the back half of the cabin, and was in charge when the no1 (cabin manager) was not around. This job helped to develop and further many skills such as multi - tasking and managment in stressful situations between customer service and passenger and plane saftey, conflict resolution and much more.
I worked for amazon as a delivery driver for just over 6 months. This job required dedication and determination as it could become very tedious due to the constant stop start of the job and more. It also required a high spacial awarness when it came to manoeuvring the vans around, especialy on tight corners and streets in the dark where there are many objects and obstacles in the way.
During school, i partook in the young enterprise competitions. This resulted in myself being the managing director of 5 of my fellow pupils. Together we came up with a company and products to be sold in real situations to customers, and came out with a profit at the end of the year.
Education
In my school years, I passed all 9 of my GCSEs, my highest results being a 7 (A) in maths, 1 mark away from a 7 (still an A) in English literature and 5 marks away from a 7 (so B+/A) in Physics. I took my astronomy gsce a year early although it was supposed to be 2 years early but due to a change in teachers and syllabus half way through the year it got pushed back, even with the pushbacks I came out with a B in my exam and a C in coursework. I also passed all 3 of my A-level exams, my highest being a B in Psychology
