About Oscar Ratciffe:
Having spent the last 3 years gaining experience with lights, sound and video in various organisations, as well as further pursuing it with my A-Levels, I have discovered my passion for the AV and events industries. I now want to take the next step towards making this my career.
Along with my technical foundations, I also coach and referee rugby, lead a lighting team, play several instruments in bands and work with professional clients. Through these I have learnt the importance of being able to communicate with a variety of people in various situations and achieving effective outcomes. These skills allow me to engineer lighting, sound and video for both live shows and other productions while working in high pressure situations with diverse teams.
I have volunteered in my school tech crew for over 3 years, doing on average 12 shows per year, giving me the chance to work with complex 18+ channel sound and moving head lighting setups. This led to me being the head of the lighting team, rigging lights, programming the shows and managing the crew. This work has allowed me to become more proficient in events work while also getting better at dealing with clients and working with larger crews.
