Penny Barnwell-Thornton

I am a self-motivated individual who takes a pro-active and professional approach to my work. I am a confident ‘people person’ and love working with the public. I am very much a 'people person' and have worked with people from all different backgrounds on all different levels, including solicitors, developers, local authorities including planning officers, architects, etc. as well as, more recently, Doctors, Celebrants, Coroners etc.

 Having been an Estate Agent for 24 years and loved all but the final couple of years, due to the unsociable hours of being self-employed, I recently changed careers and joined the funeral industry as a part-time funeral arranger, in a temporary contract to cover a colleagues sickness leave. I love the job but ideally I need to work more hours.

I recently changed my career path to the funeral industry and I am currently in a part-time 12 month contract as a funeral arranger, which I enjoy very much. Ideally however, I would like to work more hours either in the funeral industry or back in estate agency progressing sales, or another industry which involves providing excellent customer service.

During my career I have had to be self motivated and organised, planning my diary and traveling throughout my various assigned areas visiting people in their homes and discussing and identifying their individual needs and assisting them to achieve it. 

I have also managed several successful offices, but would now prefer a more supporting role rather than management.

A bit about me. I am married and live with my husband of 21 years with our little dog in rural South Leicester. My 3 children are all adults and I have 4 grandchildren. My interests are table skittles, of which I am captain, my husband and I are in a choir, I love reading, music and walking my dog.

I drive and have my own car and have a clean driving licence.
