Engineering / Architecture
About philip lounton:
I am currently employed as Technical support engineer at Engineered Foam Products, I travel around there sites across Scotland and the UK my primary responsibilities are to install and commission new production and service assets, Initiate and follow up plant improvement plans, plan and assist in major breakdowns and follow up with root cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
Previous to Engineered Foam Products I was employed as a multy skilled technician at TATA Global Beverages at Eaglescliffe where I was responsible for the efficient running of the production lines, minimise breakdowns and plan and implement engineering solutions to improve plant effeminacy.
I have been employed in the oil and gas industry as a site engineering manager, this may sound a mundane job title however the job itself involves managing multiple sites, assets and projects. I was employed in shipyards first in South Korea then in China, where the yard built the structure of a drilling rig, be this a ship, semi or jack-up then I and my team would personally be responsible for the 'fitting out' and maintenance of that particular vessel, from power supply, software control systems right up to the cooling fans on the drill floor!
I have developed excellent leadership and communication skills as part of my job was organising the work scope for the all NOV's and some shipyard personnel to ensure the work was planned to utilise maximum resources of the site and engineers available. I was also expected to lead / attend meetings with customers and their representatives.
I was responsible for all budget aspects of the projects, capturing potential overspends and implementing countermeasures, expenditure projections and future asset / project costing, I also had to ensure all milestones were achieved and when not, suitable countermeasures were implemented, all this was reported back to senior management weekly, up to and including vice president.
I was responsible for all documentation on site, this included reviewing / updating technical drawings, commissioning, and handover documentation, ongoing maintenance records I had to implement and document PPM schedules, and HSE documents including risk assessments.
I am not just a 'manager' I am a hands-on engineer therefore I fully understand everyone's role and can confidently converse at all levels, with an in-depth knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems from emergency generating plants, UPS supplies to software packages and actively partake in fault finding and root cause analysis on a wide range of both electrical and mechanical assets.
I excel under pressure and have been involved in many meetings where tempers have been lost, but I have always kept a calm professional manner no matter what has been said or done to me.
I am proficient in all Microsoft software; however, I believe the whiteboard is one of the best admin tools as any concerns / issues is visible for everyone!
Experience
I am an experienced engineer not just with practical hand skills I also have the experience and academic background to communicate at all levels in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
Education
I have up to HNC in mechanical engineering and educated in engineering to degree level.
I have completed courses in PLC, electrical skills, I have my amateur radio advanced / full licence.
I also hold a MEWP and cherry picker licence.
