Rachel has worked as a gymnastics or acrobatics coach for 25+ years all over the Uk and Europe. With a specialism in tumbling and partner acrobatics, and two degrees in circus acrobatics, she can help you choreograph a group routine for a stage show or work out why you can’t get the splits. From guidance on handstands, to relaxing your hamstrings, Rachel's expert advice will help you achieve your acrobatic goals. Weekly session on fitness, flexibility or technique can be tailored to your specific needs, with a holistic approach to whole body fitness, nutrition, posture, gait and whatever you need to help in your acrobatic journey. Rachel uses a combination of in-depth knowledge from 25 years of teaching a variety of acrobatic disciplines, her experience of injury recovery and diets and intuitive knowledge of the body, as well as her performance background to make classes informative, freeing and fun for all participants.
Experience
Rachel has worked as a performer, trainer and coach for 25+ years. Having performed circus acrobatics, aerial and juggling skills on various indoor and outdoor events she can work with large or small groups, solo or teamwork. An excellent leader, Rachel is great at organising groups into a performance in a short space of time. With a great eye for detail and many years of experience she can create an act either for herself or other performers that compliments the situation perfectly. This ability to see the bigger picture makes her the perfect team player and a great organiser. having worked as the workshop coordinator at play festival for 7 years, she can literally wrangle a field full of crusty jugglers into an organised crew of informative workshops that bring hundreds of clients a wholesome, nourishing week of learning and bonding with like minded people
Education
After studying a degree in contemporary circus and physical performance and working as a performer and teacher of acrobatics and circus for 20 years at events all of the UK and Europe, I then studied a masters in Directing for Circus at Circomedia where I learned a variety of devising techniques for stage and screen, how to interpret text and other art forms into a physical practice, how to direct and assist with the creation of large and small scale performance works for indoor and outdoor events, how to liaise with clients, technical staff, the public and outside funding bodies to gain support and a lot of history of performance
