About Rachel Healy:
Research scientist with a BSc in Genetics, MSc in Molecular Medicine, and a PhD focused on cell biology, signalling, and bioengineering. My PhD research investigated how intrinsic forces imposed by micropatterns influenced signalling at cell-cell contacts and key cellular processes. I'm currently a Scientist II in the Target Discovery team at Mestag Therapeutics, where I use bioprinting to develop complex 3D, disease-relevant models to support therapeutic screening. I am passionate about advancing disease relevant models and organ-on-chip technologies, and I am committed to reducing reliance on animal models in research.
Experience
1+ year of experience in a fast paced biotech- using bioprinting to develop complex 3D, disease-relevant models to support therapeutic screening.
Education
BSc in Genetics- 3month project titled 'Analysis of the effect of inhibiting the endosomal recycling pathway on the expression levels of PD-L1.
MSc in Molecular Medicine- 6 month project titled' Modelling the inflammatory effects of pulmonary arterial hypertension using a pulmonary artery on a chip device.
PhD focused on cell biology, signalling, and bioengineering- investigated how intrinsic forces imposed by micropatterns influenced signalling at cell-cell contacts and key cellular processes.
