Education / Training
About Rachel Young:
I am due to complete my psychology degree and am keen to cement this learning by working within education supporting young adults with additional support needs.
Experience
I have gained hands-on experience through my voluntary educational psychology yearlong placement at Hillside School, where I worked with students aged 7-16 with SEN. This role allowed me to collaborate with teachers, support children in their learning, and assist in their personal and academic development in a wide range of subjects and curricula. Through this, I gained firsthand insight into the importance of individualised support, communication, and creating a positive learning environment. The impact this had on the young people emphasised to me the vast difference that these factors can make when implemented effectively.
Additionally I have worked in customer-facing roles for five years which has strengthened my interpersonal and problem-solving skills, allowing me to build strong relationships with professionals, students and colleagues.
