Rhys Catling

I am a 26-year-old designer from the Isle of Wight looking to bring my unique and versatile skills to a role as part of a studio. I have gained a huge variety of experience from a multitude of projects producing work to different types of brief specifications - this has been through my collaborations with businesses both as part of higher education  (with renowned institutions in london and belgium) and freelance work outside of education. All the qualities I have used to excel within those engagements, like my determination to work hard and continually learn and improve as a practitioner, I am excited to bring to a position. 

• Various reoccurring retail positions employed in during my higher education (Clarks Shoestore 2021,2022,2023, etc)
• Intermittent freelance graphic design work for local businesses throughout my life from 2017 onwards.
• During my Erasmus programme at university in 2022 I lived, studied and worked in the city of Ghent, Belgium at the renowned LUCA School of Arts I worked with the ‘House of Communication’ a Brussels-based Belgium advertising studio with clients such as BMW and Kenwood (who we produced an infographics project with). This was a fantastic experience taking part in the actual design cycle used for industry-scale projects - especially because of how my initial design during idea development was the one taken forward by the company.

My education within Graphic Design - started at GCSE level before progressing to a Graphic Design BTEC Extended Diploma with Distinction and then the BA Degree in Graphic Design Communication I completed in 2023, at University of the Arts London within Chelsea College of Arts. A progression through the premium calibre, higher education in the Graphics field working alongside industry professionals was a great experience that developed me as a practitioner. I undertook the Erasmus Programme in the second year of my degree living, studying and working in the city of Ghent, Belgium at the renowned LUCA School of Arts.
