About Rhys Woodfield:
I am a Reading based Archive Researcher (though able to commute to London) with various documentary credits, many for Channel 4. I have lots of archive experience, excellent research skills, have assisted crews on location and helped set up shoots. In addition to this I was part of editorial team on the comedy show The Russell Howard Hour.
Experience
I have worked on various programmes and two feature documentary films in my time as a Researcher, predominantly in documentary archive but also picking up other duties when needed, including assisting crew on location, fact checking scripts and conducting in depth research into the subjects.
The programmes I have worked on include a number of documentaries for Channel 4, The Anti Vax Conspiracy, Dispatches: Second Wave Did Govt Get It Wrong, The Cult of Conspiracy: QAnon and Ghislaine Maxwell: The Making of a Monster. I have also worked for Vice on the series True Belivers that looked at the Modern Mystery School cult. I recently worked on The Russell Howard Hour a topical comedy show that needed a keen eye to find the funniest moments and stories from the weeks news. A number of projects I have worked on that are still in production these include two feature films, an incredible true crime story from 70's New York, another about the biggest industrial dispute Britain has seen and a two part true crime series about a disgraced Hollywood actor for Channel 4.
As an archive researcher I have had experience dealing with various media agencies and independent photo and video producers from the UK and abroad, maintaining scrupulously organised archive records, ordering screeners and masters, calculating costs and hunting down hard to find materials. When I join a project I like to immerse myself in the topic and become as informed as possible on it to aid my work. I believe I am an easy person to work with, I take direction well and am very flexible in my approach to work and don't mind helping out in any way I can on a project even if it goes beyond the remit of my job title. I am currently based in Reading where I received my first class Masters degree in Film at the University of Reading. I am able to commute to London if needed.
Education
In 2021 I obtained a Distinction grade MA in Film at the University of Reading and preceding that a BA at the University of South Wales for Film Studies.
