Richard Ondimu

I am a self-motivated professional with expert knowledge in Finance and insurance. I hold an MSc in Finance, Banking, and Insurance from the University of Westminster (UK) from which I was an outstanding postgraduate student. He has formidable knowledge in accounting and is a full member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK). Prior to joining the PhD program, I taught the financial reporting module at the undergraduate level in Kenya. My research interests include developmental finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), banking, and insurance.

I am a fellow of the higher education academy (FHEA).

Jan 2021- Present: Internal Auditor (Part-time) | Stoke UK Diaspora Sacco, England 

Where I designed Sacco’s internal control system, providing monitoring and oversight on a continuum. - Instituting fraud detection procedures into audit programs and providing recommendations for improvement. - Check and ensure the activities done by the Sacco are in conformity to existing regal framework/regulations. 

Jan 2010 – Aug 2016:  Accountant, Ministry of interior and coordination - Nairobi 

Where I leveraged my expertise to manage invoices, checks, and GL information by establishing access to the database. - Carried out an extensive review of documents for claims, imprest and other funding applications to minimize fraud. - Coordinated team members: assistant accountants and attachés when preparing final accounts. Contribution:  I Minimised 30% of data entry errors by conducting a thorough analysis and scrutiny of documents.

2018-2021 A PhD in Economics and Finance - Aston University, Birmingham (UK)

Where I research on “Valuation effects of bank-insurance consolidations”. I am now on the extension stage, meaning I will submit my thesis in the next couple of months.

2016-2018: University of Westminster, London – MSc Finance, Banking, and Insurance (Distinction).

The MSc course enhanced my communication and presentations skills in International financial reporting and global banking. I  utilised quantitative data and econometric software to study the performance of bancassurance ventures in Africa. I Researched diverse topics: Insurability criteria for autonomous cars, Solvency II, and Basel regulation.

I also hold certified public accounting qualifications and Bcom (finance)-First class
