About Robbie McSweeney:

As an artist, what makes me stand out is my passion for research and looking at the details. I will always look to improve my skills with knowledge and a lot of practice. My main interests lie in Military History; I find studying arms and armour fascinating, and take great interest in researching all historical periods. I also enjoy the science fiction and fantasy brands, such as Star Wars, 40k, Tolkien and Marvel. All of these elements add to the development of my artwork.

Experience

Playtech Casino - September 2014 - April 2023

I worked as 2D artist, UI designer, Graphic Designer and animator. I designed Playtech’s most successful games and was designer for over 30 slot games. In 2015 I was awarded Employee of the Year.

BGO studios - December 2013 to September 2014

(BGO studios moved to Playtech Casino). Worked as 2D artist, UI designer and Graphic Designer. 

Academic Paper - June 2021

Developed helmets of the Christian Kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula of the 12th - early 13th century. I reimagined how many helmet styles in Spain looked like in the day from old art and sculptures from the period. This paper was authored by Pavel Alekseychik and Dario Solana.

Kings and Generals (Youtube Channel) December 2018-2019

Worked as illustrator and animator for military history documentaries.

Invicta (Youtube Channel) June 2017-2019

Lead Artist of the documentary series called ‘Moments’. These documentaries were about various topics about military history. 

Martial Artist Instructor: 2021-present

I am an instructor at Basingstoke HEMA. I teach techniques from the 14th to the 19th centuries. All lessons require a good amount of research, and reading of the original manuals of the time.

This knowledge of history and martial skill, gives me the edge in creating accurate and practical art and designs.
