Robin Varney
Agriculture
About Robin Varney:
I recently graduated from the University of Readings Environmental Management BSc program and am looking to relocate to Bristol. I am looking for a position that provides an exciting entry into environmental management and the opportunity to develop my existing skills.
Taught by the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, my degree allowed me to learn about the technical, scientific and socioeconomic aspects of various environmental issues. This course was tailored to prepare graduates for employment, including assignments that resembled policy briefing notes, grant applications and long-term land management plans.
Whilst I do not have industry-specific experience I have had several part-time jobs, most recently working part-time as a baker in a Tesco superstore. From this, I gained skills and knowledge including:
- Customer service, including handling complaints
- Business and profit awareness
- Product waste management
- Performing quickly and calmly under pressure
My most recent position as a baker in a supermarket store has given me a new appreciation for the waste reduction and environmental protection strategies that occur out of sight of the local community.
