I am passionate, diligent and punctual. Friends and colleagues would describe me as very friendly, approachable and a good listener. I work well in a team and can solve problems effectively. At College, I developed an aptitude in working with financial data. I can competently use Excel to analyse and interpret financial information which in turn informs decision making.

I have studied aboard for a year in India and have an experience of living away from my family. Adapting to a new culture was both challenging and fascinating however, it was an experience that ultimately developed my adaptability and resilience. I feel this experience has given me the maturity and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with both my peers and academic professionals at the university. 

I have a passion for cooking. The creative and cultural aspects of exploring new cuisines are exciting. My cooking also helps to develop my social interactions with my fellow students. Exploration and travel are also passions of mine – a highlight was an expedition to the Indian Islands of Andaman and Nicobar in India. I took part in marine activities like Scuba diving and hiking in the forest. It was fascinating to see the variety of ecological diversity living on the island. Domestically I recently completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. A physically challenging experience which required teamwork and communications skills.

I volunteered at Barnardos for 2  months overseeing the till and bookkeeping which helped me to develop communication skills, team working and in organising my time and which help me to keep up with my college commitments. In 2018 I undertook a work placement at Airedale Hospital and spent time in Human Resources, Payroll, and the Auditing department. I had the opportunity to meet the Chief of Finances of Airedale Hospital and discuss the challenges of a career in financial management.  My experience in different functional areas emphasised the importance of effective financial planning and budgeting. In June 2018 I was chosen to visit Poland for 2 weeks on an educational business trip which was sponsored by Erasmus. The trip gave me a good understanding of the cultural and economic similarities and differences between the two countries. This gave me an insight into the importance of international trade and how Brexit may have an impact in the future.

As an Accounting and Finance graduate, I aspire to pursue a career in Accounting. This would enhance my learning and help develop my career in the Finance field. I am passionate about Financial Modelling, particularly creating financial model to derive intrinsic value of different financial products (Stock/Bonds). I have also undertaken a 3-month internship at a company called Limited Accounting Business Solutions. My roles and responsibilities preparing journal entries on behalf of the company’s day to day operations. Learning how to use Sage Accounting for basic accounting functions, using Microsoft Excel for preparing double entry book keeping and ledger accounts. Lastly, working as part of a team to analyse financial information and data.

I am writing to express my interest in the Accounts Assistant role based in your Leeds office. I have recently completed my Bachelor’s degree at Keele University in Accounting, Finance and International Business and attained an upper-second class honours 2:1.  My undergraduate degree has given me proficient experience in financial modelling and accounting concepts through modules in Asset Pricing, Corporate Finance and Advanced Financial Accounting and Audit Framework. The foundational knowledge of accounting concepts and various financial products has given me insight on Accounting systems and functions.
