About Russell Brinkworth:

I have been in the RAF for 22 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities, challenges, experiences and responsibilities it has given me. Being in the military, however, does create disruption and uncertainty to my personal and family life. I am ready for a new challenge, and I have decided to end my career in the RAF and seek new opportunities with a more settled working pattern.

Having worked in a very Diverse and Inclusive environment(D&I), I have a vast amount of leadership and management experience with an open, approachable and committed attitude. I communicate daily with team members and colleagues managing and monitoring their welfare, morale, discipline and administrative tasks. This includes ensuring their compliance with a D&I policy and local and operational orders in addition to setting SMART objectives and writing appraisals.

My current role is an Identification Officer, identifying aircraft in UK airspace. I routinely analyse vital data and information from various sources such as radars, radios, tabular information and multi nation messaging systems providing information on air activity, which often requires me to assesses, monitor and report the information.

My main strengths are my positive mindset, my ‘can do attitude’ and my resourcefulness. Throughout my career in the RAF, I have worked in many different areas, demonstrating my ability to adapt to different situations which has given me an array of life experiences which I believe will benefit me in any future role.

I would like this role, as I believe it will be challenging and offer a variety of work which I will enjoy. I have a number of transferable skills that make me well suited to this position. I am also close to completing a Level 5 Diploma in People Management with CIPD which I have undertaken as part of my resettlement.
