About Sabrina's Akter:

I have attended college and have gained qualifications in Professional Cookery NQ, NC, HNC patisserie with Grade A. I am already a certified pastry chef. I am currently in my 2nd year of a HND Professional Cookery course. The reasons why I feel the university should give me the opportunity and place on this course are because I have a great desire to be a teacher and will give the course my all. I am highly motivated and will work extremely hard to achieve my goals. I have many skills and qualities which will be useful. I have gained many skills through studying at the City of Glasgow College which is Scotland’s most prestigious college. Here I have gathered knowledge & skills in various modules such as Food & Hygiene intermediate and I have a REHIS Certificate. I have also learned higher accounting, budgeting and can make cost sheets. I have had a huge amount of practical experience from working in professional kitchens and scholar restaurants. I am an expert in pastry corner making, I can bake all types of bread including sourdough and I can create sponges and birthday cakes for children. I can listen to and take instructions and guidance from others in hospitality. I have been trained as a supervisor in a kitchen and worked as chef de parte. I am aware of all legislation of the Food industry. In my 2nd year of study, I have gained knowledge in other areas including human resources, food& beverage, gastronomy and kitchen planning. I can plan and organise an event with a theme including designing a menu, cooking and serving. Outside the kitchen I have also learned to use Microsoft word, office, Excel and PowerPoint. Being able to use these programmes will be helpful for any future degree. I really enjoy learning new skills. Since 2016 I have been working as a Voluntary Bangla language teacher in a registered charity organisation called the Bangla Centre and have gathered experience of working. I have a PVG Disclosure Certificate. I have passed B1 with distinction in 2019 and IELTS Band 5 in 2021. I can speak 4 languages English, Hindi, Urdu, and Bangla and have a little knowledge of Italian. I believe that anything is impossible if it is done with dedication and determination and that’s probably why nothing has been able to stopped me from studying and achieving my goals.
