About Saira Mirza:

I am a U.K. qualified Mpharm pharmacist with a vast amount of cross sector experience. Looking to relocate to Amsterdam Netherlands after my husband has already secured work.  I have worked for over 6 years in community pharmacy working with large organisations such as Boots pharmacy And Lloyds pharmacy.  I currently work within primary care and am based within GP practices. I am completing specialism in prescribing within the area of hypertension.

In my current role as a Practice based clinical pharmacist I have been able to hone in on those skills sat dormant, I have grown in confidence and I am further developing my knowledge and skills through the CPPE PCPEP Pathway cohort 8. In my role to achieve positive outcomes for patients I work collaboratively to support medicines optimisation and establish networks with primary care, social care, pharmacy and pathway colleagues. I can read discharge letters and clinical letters and Implement an effective medicines reconciliation processes this may involve contacting community pharmacy to make them aware of any changes. Furthermore, some issues may need further clarification from secondary care either via telephone or email. Patient may also need further monitoring, I have learnt the process of requesting bloods, and increased my knowledge of understanding the Management of long-term conditions (LTCs) with appropriate monitoring and evidence-based treatment. As well as this I am able to carry out Medication Reviews with patients and more targeted Structured Medication Reviews (SMR) incorporating a holistic approach both face to face and over the phone. I have been having weekly session with my clinical supervisor where we discuss patient cases and how I would plan an SMR out on more complex cases. I am thriving and thoroughly enjoy the practices I work in, making a difference to the patient whilst continuously learning, reflecting and Improving my skills within this sector. This role is so unique and diverse as is the organisation, working as a team supporting each other to improve patient outcomes for the Greater Manchester population is such a privilege.

Prior to my current post I had been a community pharmacist for 6 years and I enjoyed a patient-centred role with Lloyds Pharmacy and Boots the Chemist also alongside my employment at Lloyds pharmacy I spent a short while in the education sector as a Trainee Pharmacy Assessor. Prior to becoming a Pharmacist I had over 7 years of experience as a healthcare assistant progressing to a dispensing role and then undertaking my pre-registration year. These have been crucial in bringing many of my skills together. I have a methodical and thorough nature and pay great attention to detail which has proven successful when implementing a clinical check of prescriptions. I am able to break down barriers and communicate effectively within a pharmacy team and with professionalism across a multidisciplinary team from GP’s, Nurses to NHS 111 CPCS referral service. I can speak Urdu and Punjabi and have utilised these to overcome language barriers amongst Ethnic minorities who do not speak English. I aim to achieve my best and do this with hard work and determination. I have the drive and the hunger to continue to learn and become a successful Pharmacist Within your organisation. I hope you will provide me with the opportunity to show you how I will flourish within your organisation.
