About sam clarke:

I'm a 29 year old man with an autism diagnosis. I have done a variety of works experience since leaving school and then further education (with the NE Autistic Society).  I also volunteered as a kitchen assistant at the college for one year.

Since October 2019, I've been working part time for a garment maker.  My role has been general assistant including cleaning, tidying, running errands alongside the sewing. Unfortunately I have been given a notice of redundancy and therefore looking for an alternative friendly environment.

I have an Access to Work grant in place and look to continue with this support with my new employer.

Prior to starting with my current employer, I was set up to carry out some work experience within the kitchens at Durham University and was really excited about the prospect. Unfortunately the person who had set this up left the University very suddenly and this opportunity was no longer available to me. I was very disappointed at the time as I felt it would be a perfect environment that would be welcoming and friendly.

I have had assistance with writing this application.

My Access to Work grant is provided through Team Sunflower and they are helping me with my job hunt.  Therefore, please contact Sue Hayman on 07585 129300 if you would like to arrange for an interview with me (and Sue will come along to that interview to help me).
