About SarahJane Jones:

My name is Sarah Jane Jones, and I am a diligent and committed individual seeking flexible part-time work to accommodate my upcoming university studies starting in September 2025. I have a diverse skill set gained from my experiences in both healthcare and retail sectors, including roles as a stable hand, waitress, crew member in fast food, and healthcare assistant in secure mental health and learning disability settings. My core strengths include communication, customer service, and multitasking, which I have developed through various roles. I have a proven ability to adapt quickly to new challenges, and I am confident in my capacity to excel in any position while contributing effectively to a team. I am eager to bring my strong work ethic and adaptability to a new role that offers fulfilment and a sense of purpose, where work is rewarding and allows me to thrive in fast-paced environments.

Experience

Healthcare assistant (mental health and learning disabilities)

In this job I demonstrated exemplary care and support for patients in high secure (Ashworth) and low secure (Rathbone) facilities, as well as medium secure (Scott clinic) environments, showcasing adaptability and resilience across diverse settings.

I successfully completed a 15-month apprenticeship, acquiring extensive experience in patient care, observation, and support, particularly with individuals from varied backgrounds, including those transitioning from prison settings.

Ensured the safety and well-being of patients by adhering to rigorous security protocols, conducting regular observations, and attending to their individual needs, including meals, toiletries, and personal items.

Maintained a high level of vigilance in high secure settings, overseeing patient movements, conducting searches, and coordinating with control to ensure a secure environment.

Received specialised training in patient restraint techniques, key clearance procedures, and professional conduct to uphold safety standards and provide optimal care.

Transitioned to Rowan View ward, specialising in Learning Disability care, where I provided personalised support for patients with autism and learning disability’s, demonstrating patience, empathy, and effective communication in challenging situations.

Conducted regular observations and engaged in one-on-one interactions to address the unique needs and anxieties of patients, fostering a calm and reassuring environment conducive to their well-being.

Successfully managed patients with complex behavioural challenges, utilising de-escalation techniques and appropriate restraint measures to ensure the safety of staff and patients.

Adapted swiftly to changing roles and responsibilities, demonstrating a high level of flexibility and professionalism across various wards, including nurse bank assignments, while maintaining consistent standards of care and support.

This job gave me knowledge on mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, depression, anxiety and eating disorders.

It also gave me knowledge on spectrum disorders and learning disabilities such as autism, Asperger’s and ADHD.

The reason for leaving my role here was due to childcare and the shifts available not aligning with my availability.

Store assistant (Home bargains)

In this role, my primary responsibilities included serving customers at the till, processing card or cash transactions, ensuring customers had shopping bags, and assisting with packing items when needed.

While operating the till, I also took the initiative to maintain orderly shelves, assist customers in locating products, and suggest alternative items if certain products were unavailable.

Additionally, I undertook shifts involving restocking shelves before store opening, meeting shift targets, scanning new products, updating price tags, and handling cardboard disposal.

Moreover, I assumed the role of service lead during shifts, managing till queues by deploying additional staff, monitoring store front near the tills, restocking products, and utilising a headset to communicate with managers effectively.

Throughout my tenure, I honed my customer service skills and cultivated proficiency as a diligent, fast-paced, and courteous store assistant.

Due to the hours not aligning with my availability anymore I had to leave.
