Sashmita Rout

I am a registered student  at De Montfort University in Advanced biomedical science IBMS Accredited postgraduate studies program for the year September  2022 to September  2023.I have worked as a research  technician at All India Institute of medical sciences and as a research assistant  at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital Mumbai on Cancer research and xenograft models.I was also involved in Phase II Clinical trial of patients  undergoing  head and neck cancer.I have publications in Advanced Experimental Medicine ,Nature Publications and Dose Response.I was also awarded INSA-NASI fellowship  under Indian Academy of Sciences IISc Bangalore.I have a strong passion for research .I have hands on experience  in Western blot, spectrophotometer,Rt -PCR,HPLC ,NMR Spectroscopy along with generation of site directed mutagenesis in specific genes as well as mouse handling for xenograft  experiments. 

I am also a JN Tata Scholar 2019.

I have worked as a research technician  at  All India Institute  of  medical sciences on thalassemia for 6 months.I have also worked as a project technician  at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital Mumbai on cancer cell lines using xenograft  models.I was also involved in Phase III Clinical trial of Patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy  in head and neck cancer .I was also awarded the prestigious INSA -NASI Fellowship  under Indian Academy of Sciences at IISc Bangalore for Generation of Site Directed Mutagenesis in HMGB1.I have two publications on cancer nano drug therapy as well as on Malaria and I have an ongoing publication on the Complement and Cancer system.My expertise are in Western Blot,2-D Gel Electrophoresis,  plasmid Purification, DNA Extraction, RNA Extraction  Immunohistochemistry and protein Purification. I have hands on experience in NMR Spectroscopy (Bruker Spin) and HPLC (Agilent Technologies) while performing my disseetation project at International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology New Delhi .I worked on Purification and Analysis of Vitamin D in Shiitake mushroom to analyse the content of vitamin D using HPLC and Stringent Response protein RelA using NMR spectroscopy and Nickel column purification.I have also worked on 3D hanging spheroid models for colorectal cancer in HCT-116.

I am a registered  student  at De Montfort University Leicester in Advanced Biomedical science postgraduate studies program. I had previously completed my masters in Biotechnology in India.I undertook this program in De Montfort University  to expand my knowledge  in Clinical  Science since I have a growing passion for Biomedical  studies.
