Sheereen Ravat

I am an avid reader with a passion for academic writing. I also find much pleasure in developing new recipes, blogging, and partaking in various activities at both the local and regional level; this includes: charity work, event organising and raising awareness for various ethical issues. I am highly enthusiastic and dedicated towards community work. I am currently a member of Cycling UK looking to raise health awareness and encourage people of all age groups to experience the joys of cycling. I also take part in various charity events which occur annually around the West Midlands using Spicecupboard as a pop up stall. My interest in societal relations and ethics has led me to appreciate diversity in literature, art-house cinema, and artistic creativity such as period drama, modern art and architecture. In my spare time, I also enjoy learning new skills. Alongside completing my MA in Education, I am currently learning a new language and have recently completed a course in cycling leadership training so as to inspire others to take up new activities at a local level.  

As someone who believes in the pursuit of lifelong learning, I consider myself to be suitable for a variety of roles. My interests lie in both academia and social work, both of which I have successfully been able to merge during my years of employment. Having worked with various age groups of varying abilities and a broad spectrum of ethnic minority backgrounds has prepared me for numerous situations in which I have been able to utilise and develop my skills in (interpersonal) communication, active listening, problem solving, management and leadership roles, and emotional intelligence. This I continue to do in whatever field I pursue, be it professionally or as part of voluntary based organisations. 

Whilst I aim to continue my development as a teacher, completing my MA in Education has lead me towards a new found direction – and that is to inspire learning through a level of praxis. Furthering myself in academia has truly helped shape my understanding of pedagogy and with it, the confidence to develop my own continuing philosophy on education. This I hope to carry with me in all areas of employment and across all disciplines.
