About Stephen Meloche:
I've recently returned home to Scotland since completing a contract as a Sr. Meteorologist with the Jersey Met Office in the Channel Islands. My experience includes, but is not limited to, aviation (civil and military), marine and shipping, renewables, industrial, infrastructure, radio and media.
As an Earth Systems Scientist, I thrive on continual learning and have embraced a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to problem solving. I’ve studied Ecology and the Environment for over 20 years and hold a Lancaster University Certificate (Ecological & Environmental Studies) and am a current student of Sustainability with the UN Sustainable Development Goals Academy.
I am an active volunteer advisor with the “Scottish Flood Forum”, using my expertise in hydro-meteorology, climate change and sustainable development, including nature based solutions. I have many years experience in communicating complex and often contradictory information to diverse clients in a clear and concise fashion.
I’m highly IT literate with numerous hardware, software, modelling, databases and visualisation systems which have evolved over the past 4 decades. I have several decades experience working within challenging and often remote and chaotic environments including over 40 years of administration and direct customer service. I understand the value of being part of a strong, goal oriented, team. Being ex-military, I have many years experience managing, training, mentoring and motivating others.
Having been a Civil Servant, I've worked under the “UK Official Secrets Act” for a number of years. I hold a recent "UK DBS Certificate" and am part of the "Disclosure Scotland PVG" scheme. I've spent much of my career working with confidential information and am familiar with GDPR protocols. I hold a clean UK drivers licence and am a dual US and UK citizen.
