About Teila Jones:
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a determined individual and believe through hard work and persistence I will achieve my full potential. My skills are varied and developed through my life opportunities.
At school I have been fortunate to have been involved in a number of exciting experiences which I have accessed due to my academic standard. During year 12, I attended online lectures with Bath, Swansea and Oxbridge. I have also been an active participant in the Welsh Government debating sessions (EPYUK) arranged through the Seren Hwb. I feel privileged to have been accepted to attend the Summer Schools at both Bath & Oxford Universities, which were fantastic learning opportunities. I am currently waiting to accept my place at Cardiff University to study a degree in Law and Criminology.
As well as academic work I take pride in and dedicate interest to my extracurricular hobbies. I believe that I am a unique candidate as I possess many positive qualities, some of which I have learned through my extracurricular activities. I participated and captained a local football team, which allowed me to develop leadership and teamwork skills. I was able to take control and drive team spirits on occasions. As part of the Welsh Judo Squad, I have also shown my commitment and dedication to sustained training, individually committing hours of hard work to ensure a place in the British Judo Team Championships. Representing my country in an international event was an honour I will never forget. While training full time for this competition I also learned how to balance training and revision for my GCSE’s.
Along with my academic experience and my hobbies I have also been successful in gaining part time work experience in a number of local businesses. These roles have been varied but been useful in developing many of my wider skills. I have learned many new attributes which I feel have been invaluable in developing my personality.
If successful in my application I will undertake this responsibility with similar commitment to any previous success. I am aware that this responsibility will require a willingness to carry out duties to the best of my ability which I believe I am prepared and excited to do. I would relish the chance to work for you and hope that you consider my application.
